An international retail business needed to develop its most senior and high potential leaders to position the business for emerging growth opportunities.

A key requirement was to provide the leaders with a development experience that offered deep insight, challenge and sustainable personal growth and that resulted in:

The Solution

The solution needed to go beyond conventional leadership training so the experience would be memorable and the development sustainable.

The Myers-Briggs Company’s consulting team partnered with the CEO, senior HR and learning managers to design and facilitate a leadership development experience which incorporated experiential learning, peer support and facilitation of targeted leadership assessment tools.

A powerful aspect of the learning experiences was conducting the development in unique and remote locations in the wilderness, where everyday distractions were limited and participants could mentally and physically challenge their learning in the environment.

In addition to the unanimously positive feedback from the CEO and the 152 participants, all leaders actively pursued their development objectives in line with business needs.

The business also benefitted from greater cross-departmental collaboration, improved team interactions, internal mentoring partnerships and higher levels of commitment and employee engagement.
