In this episode of The Myers-Briggs Company Podcast, we speak with Dr. Martin Boult, psychologist, leadership expert and Senior Director of Professional Services and International Training at The Myers-Briggs Company.

Dr. Boult shares his expertise around how to foster the best connections with the people you lead, how to be a better, more self-aware leader, and much more.

“The starting point for a new manager who’s wanting to work out ‘what’s the best way of leading’ is to start with yourself. If a manager isn’t aware of what they naturally focus on, in decisions or communication, all that’s going to get in the road when they try to lead or manage other people,” says Dr. Boult.

With the evolution of the workplace, more people working remotely across time zones and cultures, and the advancement of technology for communicating, connection is more important than ever between employees and their managers.

In fact, bad relationships with managers are one the leading causes of turnover. “We work in a world where you can’t afford to have leaders and followers disconnected. If there ever was a time where people need to work together, it’s now,” adds Dr. Boult.
